The Joyful Mysteries
(Used on Mondays and Saturdays, the Sundays of Advent, and Sundays from Epiphany until Lent)
- The Annunciation (the love of humility)
The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin
betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph...And he came to her and said, "Hail, O
favored one, the Lord is with you!" Luke 1:26-28
- The Visitation (charity toward thy neighbor)
In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of
Judah...And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her
womb. Luke 1:39-41
- The Nativity (the love of God)
And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped hem in swaddling cloths, and
laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:7
- The Presentation of the Infant Jesus in the Temple (a spirit of sacrifice)
And when the parents brought in the child Jesus...he took him up in his arms and
blessed God and said "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according
to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation." Luke 2:27-30
- The Finding of Jesus in the Temple (for the glory of God)
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening
to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed. Luke 2:45-47
The Sorrowful Mysteries
(Used on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the year; and daily from Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday)
- The Agony in the Garden (true repentance for my sins)
- The Scourging at the Pillar (a spirit of mortification)
- The Crowning with Thorns (moral courage)
- The Carrying of the Cross (the virtue of patience)
- The Crucifixion (the grace of final perseverance)
The Glorious Mysteries
(Used on Wednesdays and the Sundays from Easter until Advent)
- The Resurrection (for a strong faith)
- The Ascension (the virtue of hope)
- The Descent of the Holy Spirit (for the glory of God)
- The Assumption of Mary (the grace of a happy death)
- The Crowning of Mary (the greater love for Mary)
The Luminous Mysteries
(Used on Thursdays)
- The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan (living my Baptismal Promises)
- The Wedding at Cana (doing whatever Jesus says)
- The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God (seeking Gods forgiveness)
- The Transfiguration of Jesus (becoming a new person in Christ)
- The Last Supper (active participation at Mass)
